A Day Like Any Other Day

Sorry, I am late in posting today. I have been trying to figure out what to say about the Terri Schiavo case, if I want to say anything at all.

I decided I just have a few things to add. I was really bothered that everyone today on the news offered their condolences only to her parents. What about her husband? He lost a wife today. Sure, there are extenuating circumstances, but I don't think that should matter.

Also, I just wish this would hurry up and be over. I never though I would long to hear news of what's happening with Brad and Jen's divorce or some other inane news item, but if I hear one more interview with Terri Schiavo's parents, lawyer, or priest, I am just going to lose it. Suddenly this woman is an angel, a pawn, a doll. Really, we know nothing about her, and we never should have. For all we know, she liked to run over puppies for fun. I'm sure that's not true, but we just don't know. It's over and I hope the autopsy proves the husband was right. Then he can sue that priest for slander.

On a much more fun note, I went to the mall for lunch today with some friends from work. Did you know there is a New York Deli style restaurant there? I had the Jennifer Aniston - basically a tuna melt on rye. It was seriously the best tuna sandwich I have ever had.

That Aniston chick is a good cook. Maybe she's looking for a roommate!

One more thing -
I know that bringing your left over Easter candy to work is a great way to get rid of it, but I have been on a constant sugar roller-coaster for a week now. I think Jelly Belly puts something in their jelly beans. I can not stop eating them. I think they are calling to me right now.

I am installing a new comments thing through Haloscan. Unfortunately I lost everyone's comments so far. Sorry about that. Feel free to repost them if you like.

Haloscan is giving me a few fits, so I apologize if you have any problems.

And, I wanted to let everyone know that they threw out the death penalty for the man I wrote about earlier. So a man that drove a woman off the road, raped her, shot her, and then shot and paralyzed a man that tried to help the woman will not face the death penalty because some juror insisted on preaching and preying upon the jury's Christian sensibilities instead of just dealing with the facts of the case.

I sound like I am really getting down on the bible. I have no beef with people who are religious. I have issues with people who think they don't have to make any decisions for themselves.

I Love the 90's

So, American Idol's theme last night was songs from the 90's. Great. There should be a huge array of songs to choose from. Leave it to these songsters to pick some of the most bland, overplayed pieces of crap. I would like to add my 2 cents in, so I will go down the list in order that I remember them performing in.
Bo Bice - I really enjoy watching this guy. I have said it before on TAM, he is just awesome. I can totally look past the fact that he is so totally rocker it almost hurts, because when he sings, he is HOT. His outfit was just terrible, and the song choice was really weird ("Remed"). I can appreciate a musician who takes a song and makes it their own, but I could not figure out what the heck song this was until The Boyfriend sang the original version to me. He gets points for being an actual musician that can read music. I hate singers that can't read music or play an instrument. They suck.
Anwar Robinson - I don't give a crap how good a singer is, as soon as you sing " I Believe I Can Fly" you are just dumb. Let's just all agree that R. Kelly is way too into younger chicks, and his song sucks and it got WAY too much radio play. If they had to ban it from the list of songs you could choose to audition, it needs to DIE. His performance also sucked.
Jessica Sierra - I'm not a huge fan of hers, and her songs choices suck. If she had sang the Melissa Etheridge song, I probably would have been really impressed. Instead she picks some bad LeAnn Rimes song and an entire audience is moved to tears of boredom. Some of LeAnn's songs are good, why do people always pick the bad ones?
Carrie Underwood - I hate that song that she picked because it reminds me of the fruitstand that I worked at in college for a few months (long story) and the owners would not let us listen to anything but country music, even though I pointed out that studies have been done and people actually purchase less in stores that play country music, and this song was played every 5 minutes and I have never been so close to wanting to end my life. So I fled back to Starbucks where I was forced to listen to jazz music.
Carrie's performance was good, even though I hate the song. Her stupid story at the beginning about her first date and her dad cleaning his shot guns in the living room and the guy never asked her out again was so fake it made me ill.
Anthony Federov - is the whitest man alive. His first audition was so good, but it's been all down hill from there.
Constantine Maroulis - someone needs to explain to these kids that not every song is a sex song to the camera. STOP MAKING LOVE TO THE CAMERA. "I Can't Make You Love Me" is a lament about how much you love someone and if they don't feel the same way, there is nothing you can do about it. It can be such a showstopper when performed correctly. It is not some weird psuedo-music video thing about a boy with long hair that likes to push it out of his face seductively.
Nikko Smith - At first, I was horrified at his attempt to be Usher. Then he really started singing and I was pleasantly surprised.
Nadia Turner - The thing I like about her the most is that she always seems to be having fun on stage, and she never picks a song that I expected her to pick. How can you go wrong with Melissa Etheridge?
Scott Savol - I really want good things to happen for him because his stories about his father are just heartbreaking. His song last night was also heartbreaking.
Vonzell Solomon - I feel bad for her. She is an amazing singer as she proved last night with "I Will Always Love You" which is a hard song. But I always forget about her.
One thing I will never forget is how annoyed I am when Randy calls someone's performance "pitchy." See, a performance is supposed to be pitchy, it is by singing several different pitches that one sings a song.
Also, what is up with Paula Abdul? She is one weird chick who seems to think that it is okay for her to interrupt everyone else, but if someone interupts her, she gets really angry. I have a hard time taking you seriously when you jump up out of your chair for everyone's song.

Did you watch House, MD last night?

Why not?

It's a really good show.

Don't make me repeat the Robert Sean Leonard story.

I may have to get creative with the titles soon.

So, I know I should post some "getting to know me" stuff, but I really don't want to. The handful of people reading this will pretty much already know who I am, so let's just move past the formalities.

This morning while watching the news, I saw the most amazingly awesome story. A man's death sentence was overturned because a juror brought the bible into the deliberation room and read passages to the other jurors while deliberating over the death penalty.
Now, I don't have issues against people talking about their religious beliefs as a part of their opinions on the death penalty; but I do have HUGE issues when that is all they base their decision on. I know this is a crazy idea, but what about basing your decision on the facts of the crime. The man forced a woman off the road, shot and killed her, then shot and paralyzed a man who tried to come the the woman's rescue. I don't need the bible to tell me what I think should happen to this man.
I watched the interview with the woman who brought the bible in, and PREACHED at her fellow jurors and surprise surprise, she doesn't think she did anything wrong.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!? If I had been on that jury and she started reading to me from the bible, I would have kicked her in the head. (Okay fine, some personal information about me, I have anger issues. I try to work on them, but people shoving their religion down my throat just really pisses me off. This man probably deserves the death penalty, but there is now a chance that it will be overturned because stupid people insist on injecting their religion into everything./ rant over)

Another thing I hate is Bally's Total Fitness. Some day I will tell you the whole story, but for today, I will just tell you that The Boyfriend and I attempted our morning visit to the gym, and instead had to go home and make pancakes. Why? Because there were no parking spots in the entire huge freaking parking lot, and all of the cardio equipment was full. AT 6:30 in the MORNING. The best part, one of the people on the cross trainers was reading the paper, and barely going fast enough to keep the trainer on. Does he really think he is actually working out when doing this? Does he get done and think to himself "Man, I did 45 minutes on the cross trainer today and I barely broke a sweat! I am in such good shape!" BUT HE IS NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. HE IS IN A ROUND SHAPE.

Although I did get yummy made-from-scratch pancakes out of it, so I guess I can't be too mad.
